Sheri Ova – 2012 Winner of Small Business Champion

Irving, TX

Congratulations to Sheri Ova, General Manager of The Keg Steakhouse & Bar, for being the Canadian-American Chamber’s selection for the 2012 Governor’s Small Business Champion.  The award, presented by Lisa Sturgeon, former Chairwoman of the Greater Irving/Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce, honors small businesses for their contribution to the North Texas economy.

To qualify for the small business award a company or location should be less than $20 million in sales per year and under 200 employees.  Sheri and her team of nearly 60 employees at The Keg in Las Colinas, go above and beyond to make their guests welcome.  Their commitment to making The Keg a happy environment for chamber events shows through in their enthusiasm for all events.

Many of the CACC’s membership meets that criteria making certain the chamber will name a recipient each year.  Honorable mention goes to Louie Devega State Farm Agent, Jim “JJ” Johnson Execucar, Dustin Marshall The Keg Steakhouse & Bar Plano, Lyne Stephens Coldwell Banker Apex, David Pennachetti Wine Guru Services, LLC and Jesus Monroy WSI.

Nolan Ryan spoke during the lunch and many individuals joined in the expo and breakout sessions.  Mr. Ryan, CEO and President of the American League Champions 2010 and 2011, spoke about the challenges of ownership, expectations of the organization and the importance of scouting good talent for the organization.  Many principles he discussed served him well in his other enterprises outside of baseball.
